Salvatore Baglio received the Laurea in Electronic Engineering and the Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Catania in 1900 and 1994 respectively. He is currently Full Professor of Instrumentation and Measurements. Prof. Baglio teaches courses in "Electronic measurements systems" and "Micro and nano Sensors". He is also member of the Board of Ph.D. course in Electronic and Automation Engineering of the University of Catania.
Currently serving at the University of Catania as Rector’s Delegate for Scientific and Applied Research.
Prof. Baglio is Fellow of the IEEE. He has been Editor in Chief of the I&M Video Tutorials and is currently Associate Editor in Chief of the IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurements. Salvo Baglio is a member of the I&M Society AdCom where he has served as VP Education (2016-2017) and currently as Executive VP (2018-2019).
Regarding scientific activity, Prof. Baglio has his primary scientific interests focused on “development of measurement methodologies and systems based on nonlinear dynamics”, "development of micro and nano sensors and transducers”, "exploitation of material properties toward integrated transducers" and on “nonlinear methodologies and integrated devices for energy harvesting”.
Prof. Baglio is principal investigator in several scientific research projects dealing with the development of innovative sensor systems, granted by private companies and by different national and international institutions.
Prof. Baglio has authored more than 350 scientific publications including international journals, books, conferences and patents.
