Is a researcher in penal law in the Department of Political and Social Sciences of the University of Catania since 2005.
He has taught in several degree courses (Social Services, Social Policies and Services Planning and Management, Administrative Sciences, Sciences of Government and Administration), Masters (Social Policies and Mediterranean Cultures, Penitentiary and Security Sciences, Criminological and Penitentiary Sciences, Criminology, Migrants Rights, Administrative Management of Environmental Risk, Management of Airport Security) and PhD course (Protection of Human Rights) of that Department and actually teaches “Penal Law and Penal Law for Minors” in the course of Sociology and Social Services (since 2010).
He has taught in masters, specialization, vocational training and refresher courses organised by other universities and public or private organisations.
In the field of medical responsibility, he has taught in the vocational training courses “Gli accessi vascolari in emodialisi (il cateterismo)” and “Nefrologia clinica”, organized by the “Unità Operativa di Nefrologia dell’Azienda Ospedaliera Cannizzaro di Catania” (Catania, 2013).
He is member of the following research group:
Coordinator. Salvatore Aleo. Topic: “I criteri di verificabilità empirica dei giudizi di colpa, con particolare riferimento all’ambito sanitario”. Period of time: 2nd november 2017 to 31st october 2018.
He has been lecturer in several meetings.
He has been the Italian member in the Ethics Platform of the Pompidou Group of the European Council, created to define policies against drugs addiction (2010).
He is member of the Scientific Commitee of the “Centro Siciliano di Studi sulla Giustizia” of Palermo since 26 January 2015.
He is the author of several publications concerning immigration and penal responsibility of minors. About medical responsibility, he has written a book, together with Salvatore Aleo and Alessandro Centonze, La responsabilità penale del medico, Giuffrè, Milano, 2007, and two scientific articles: La responsabilità penale del medico negli orientamenti della dottrina e della giurisprudenza, in S.
